DS3231 high-precision clock module

 

 

 

DS3231 is a low-cost, high-precision I2C real-time clock (RTC) with integrated temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and crystal. This device includes a battery input terminal that can maintain timing even when the main power is disconnected. Integrated crystal oscillators improve the long-term accuracy of devices and reduce the number of components in production lines. DS3231 provides commercial and industrial temperature ranges and is packaged in a 16 pin 300mil SO package.
RTC stores information on seconds, minutes, hours, weeks, dates, months, and years. Months with less than 31 days will automatically adjust the end of month date, including leap year corrections. The working format of the clock can be 24-hour or 12 hour format with/AM/PM indication. Provide two adjustable calendar alarms and one adjustable square wave output. The address and data are transmitted serially through the I2C bidirectional bus.
Precise, temperature compensated voltage reference and comparator circuits are used to monitor VCC status, detect power failures, provide reset outputs, and automatically switch to backup power when necessary. In addition, the/RST monitoring pin can be used as a manual input to generate a μ P reset.
In addition to high timing accuracy, DS3231 also has some other features that expand the additional functions and selection range of the system host. The device integrates a highly accurate digital temperature sensor internally, which can be accessed through an I2C * interface (just like time). The accuracy of this temperature sensor is ± 3 ° C. The on-chip control circuit can achieve automatic power detection and manage the power switching between the main power supply and the backup power supply (i.e. low-voltage battery). If the main power supply loses power, the device can still provide accurate timing and temperature without affecting its performance. When the main power supply is recharged or the voltage value returns to the allowable range, the on-chip reset function can be used to restart the system microprocessor.
